Many companies are building recycling economy projects, extending the industrial chain, realizing the utilization of calcium carbide furnace tail gas, slime, dust, and calcium carbide slag, and trying to get rid of "high energy consumption and high pollution" hats.

He said that Junzheng Industrial Company has 300,000 tons/year calcium carbide, 300,000 tons/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and 300,000 tons/year caustic soda production capacity. At the same time, it has a 2×15 MW coal gang generator set. , 200,000 tons/year white ash and 1 million tons/year cement production line. With these supporting devices, the calcium carbide furnace exhaust gas that had been drained in the past was used to burn white ash, calcium carbide dust and coal gangue were used for combustion and power generation, and calcium carbide slag was used to produce cement. The entire production process basically achieved zero discharge of waste.
In 2009, Ningxia Dadi Metallurgical Chemical Co., Ltd. used calcium carbide furnace tail gas to produce 46,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, which became the only company in the world that uses calcium carbide furnace tail gas to produce synthetic ammonia. Guo Wenyi, head of the company's project department, told reporters: Through a year of trial operation, the company has explored high temperature tar removal, oxygen removal, low temperature dust removal and other calcium carbide furnace exhaust gas purification technology, and through the use of spare 2 fixed bed gas furnace The low-oxygen synthesis gas is blended with calcium carbide furnace tail gas with an oxygen content of 1.5% to 2%, effectively diluting the oxygen content in the synthesis gas, and ensuring the safe operation of the ammonia plant.
As the company has built 100,000 tons/year of blue carbon, 100,000 tons/year of high-temperature coke, 2×50 kilowatt power generating units and 220,000 tons/year lime kiln, they used coal gangue and calcium carbide in the daily production process. Dust and slime combustion power generation, coke oven gas produced by coking process calcined white ash, and production of calcium carbide using self-produced electricity, white ash, and coke, formed a systemic cycle, thereby realizing the full utilization of waste gas and waste slag. .
“The company is planning to build a cumulative total of 700,000 tons/year of calcium carbide project with 10×31,500 kVA, and supporting the construction of a 100,000 ton/year methanol plant for the purification of tail gas from calcium carbide furnace. The total investment is 1.62 million yuan for 100,000 tons/year of polyethylene. The alcohol project will be completed and put into operation by the end of the year, when calcium carbide is used to produce acetylene and then ethylene is produced, and then ethylene is polymerized with the existing 50,000 tons/year of methanol to produce polyvinyl alcohol, which will form a longer industrial chain, said Guo Wenyi.
Ningxia Yinglite Chemical Co., Ltd. is exploring a circular economy with a higher technological content.
“By cooperating with Ningxia University, we have completed a small-scale experiment of dust removal, decoking, and oxygen removal to produce high-purity carbon monoxide in the range from 220°C to 260°C, and then produce hydrogen by reacting carbon monoxide with water vapor. We will use the calcium carbide furnace tail gas produced in the Shizuishan 2×31,500 kVA closed calcium carbide furnace to conduct a 300 to 500 ton/year hydrogen pilot test for the production of calcium carbide furnace exhaust gas to fully solve the purification, purification, transportation and safe operation of the calcium carbide furnace tail gas. Problems in engineering technology will further expand the application fields of calcium carbide furnace exhaust gas,” said Yun Mingsheng, director of the Ningxia Yinglite Chemical Co., Ltd.'s technology research and development center.
He disclosed that once the breakthrough in the hydrogen production technology for calcium carbide furnace exhaust gas is realized and industrialization is achieved, the prospects for the calcium carbide industry will be very broad. At that time, companies can use calcium carbide furnace tail gas to produce methanol and other carbon products, use calcium carbide to produce carbon dioxide products such as acetylene and ethylene, and then use carbon and carbon products to synthesize ethylene glycol and butyl octanol. Higher product.
“Elite has planned a total investment of billions of coal, electricity, and chemical integration projects and a large-scale calcium carbide-PVC project in Ningdong Chemical Industrial Park, and plans for 100,000 tons/year of ethylene glycol and 100,000 Ton/year butyl octanol and other projects. After the completion of these projects, calcium carbide furnace exhaust gas, coal ash, coal dust, coal gangue and calcium carbide slag will all be used for resources, calcium carbide and PVC production will truly achieve zero emissions.” Yun Mingsheng said .
Shanxi Coal Chemical Group Beiyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. is also building a 1 million tons/year PVC project. Li Houzhi, chairman of the company, said that the first phase of 500,000 tons/year of calcium carbide furnace gas generated by calcium carbide furnace will be used for combustion and power generation. Dust from electric dedusting and carbide slag produced from PVC are also used in the production of cement. "Because the main component of calcium carbide slag is calcium hydroxide, roasting and dehydration can form cement clinker. This process does not produce carbon dioxide, which is a major energy-saving emission reduction project."
According to reports, many calcium carbide companies, such as Inner Mongolia Baiyan Lake Chemical Co., Ltd., Xinjiang Tianye Group, Baotou Haiplan Polymer Industrial Co., Ltd., Yunnan Yunwei Group, and Shaanxi Fugu Tianqiao Carbide Co., Ltd., have already or are building calcium carbide. Furnace exhaust gas power generation, gas burning white ash, production of sodium formate and other calcium carbide furnace exhaust gas comprehensive utilization project. Some companies consider marriage with PVC companies, or build their own calcium carbide downstream projects such as polyvinyl alcohol, PVC, etc., in order to achieve a recycling economy.
