Xinhuanet Tianjin August 29 (Reporter Zhou Runjian) Hybrid city bus prototype was successfully developed in Tianjin and passed the appraisal of Tianjin Science and Technology Commission. Experts believe that this type of passenger car can effectively save energy and reduce the level of air pollution.
Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. is responsible for the research and development of this passenger car prototype. The sample car adopts series hybrid drive mode, with advanced design scheme and reasonable structure. The auxiliary power unit in the series hybrid system uses the combination of engine and generator, and adopts two-variable controllable active control load output mode, which effectively avoids the power impact of the system power components during startup and load change.
The launch of the prototype car mainly relies on the company's own technical strength, and the proportion of original innovation and integrated innovation is relatively high. Experts said that the results can be used for mass production, and its promotion and use is of great significance to the in-depth development of China's automobile industry, especially city buses. It will play an active role in ensuring China's energy security, reducing air pollution, and implementing urban bus priority strategies.

During this initial phase, Design Engineers, Tooling Engineers, Materials Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Lab Technicians work together to determine product specifications, tooling component capabilities, tooling materials, operating limitations, and any required product enhancements and improvements. The team specifically looked for any potential issues with part geometry or tolerances that could result in poor steel condition or require special tool features such as lifters, slides and threading/unthreading. The physical and chemical properties of the selected resins are also evaluated in order to select suitable mold steels and review mold cooling. In addition to determining the proper vent location, a mold flow evaluation is performed to determine the optimal gate type and gate location.

The manufacturability review includes the validation of standard plastic design practices and the incorporation of tooling details to create the most robust design possible. Tool specifications and tool provenance are finalized and purchased component sources are qualified. A comprehensive Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) was also completed.
