Recently, Xiamen Administration of Inspection and Quarantine and Tongan Office conducted an on-site inspection of a US$143,000 vertical CNC machining center imported from Taiwan by an enterprise in the jurisdiction, and found that the product was unsafe for safety protection devices, and the connection points of the protection wires were unmarked. Problems such as the existence of serious security risks may cause personal injury to operators and surrounding personnel.

At the same time as the Security Office, an expert was organized to conduct an in-depth analysis of the issue. The main reasons were as follows: First, due to differences between China's relevant mandatory standards and foreign standards, foreign manufacturers were not familiar with the standards of our country and failed to strictly comply with the requirements of our country's standards. The second is that relevant agencies and factories lack understanding of the management regulations and related mandatory technical requirements for China's imported machine tool products. They blindly believe in foreign well-known manufacturers and ignore relevant quality terms and requirements when signing contracts.

In response to this situation, the office immediately issued a Notice of Inspection and Quarantine of Imported Electromechanical Products to the consignee, requesting the consignee to notify the consignor of rectification of the non-conformities so as to eliminate potential safety hazards of the equipment. After the equipment is rectified, it is not allowed to be sold and used without being requalified by the inspection and quarantine department.

At the same time, Tongan Office carried out a risk investigation of this type of product and this type of problem, and found that the other machines exported by the manufacturer of the problem also had the above-mentioned security risks. To this end, it is recommended that: 1. The Xiamen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine publish relevant warning notices in a timely manner. 2. The manufacturer shall implement a recall of defective imported mechanical products and take effective measures to eliminate potential safety hazards and ensure product quality and safety. Third, the inspection and quarantine departments actively promote the requirements of China's mandatory technical regulations, arrange special personnel to follow up the equipment import enterprises to grasp the relevant laws and regulations and standards, and urge enterprises to raise product awareness of risk.
