Indian TVS's Fastener Company Wants to Enter the Wind Power Market

According to an external report, Sunderland Fasteners, a subsidiary of India’s TVS Group, recently announced that it will spend Rs. 500 crore to build a new factory in Pondicherry, India, which will produce special fasteners for wind power.

Sunderland will manufacture wind turbines and tower fasteners from Peiner Umformtechnik in Germany. In 2005 Sunderland Fasteners acquired Peiner Umformtechnik, which manufactures large diameter bolts. It is understood that in the future, the fasteners produced by the new plant will also be exported to other countries.

At the same time, Sunderland Fasteners will invest 200 million rupees to expand its hot forging plant in Pondicherry, which is mainly used to produce bevel gears.

Sunderland Fasteners, located in Chennai, India, manufactures automotive fasteners and related accessories. In recent years, India's wind power industry has developed rapidly and has huge market potential. According to rough statistics, the demand for wind power in India has reached at least Rs 3 billion. This is the first time that Sunderland has entered the rest of the automotive industry.
