Recently, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd., Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. and Fujian Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. are in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall and the Implementation Measures for the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall Regulations. The recall plan was filed with the AQSIQ and the following vehicles were recalled in batches, totaling 351,218 vehicles.

(1) Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. (142,279 units in total):

Some C-class vehicles produced from February 29, 2008 to December 28, 2012, a total of 115,642 vehicles;

A total of 26,637 GLK-class vehicles were produced from December 5, 2011 to December 28, 2012.

(ii) Mercedes-Benz (China) Motor Co., Ltd. (171,015 vehicles):

Some imported SLK-class vehicles produced from April 18, 2006 to February 14, 2008, a total of 1,752 vehicles;

Some imported C-class vehicles produced from January 12, 2007 to December 14, 2012, a total of 14,081 vehicles;

Part of the imported A-class vehicles produced from March 30, 2010 to April 20, 2012, a total of 8,658 vehicles;

Some imported E-class vehicles produced from February 5, 2009 to December 14, 2012, a total of 17,621 vehicles;

Some imported GL-class vehicles produced from July 14, 2008 to July 13, 2012, a total of 8,812 vehicles;

Some imported GLK-class vehicles produced from April 30, 2008 to July 3, 2012, a total of 49,778 vehicles;

Part of the imported M-class vehicles produced from July 8, 2008 to August 16, 2011, a total of 31,030 vehicles;

Some imported R-class vehicles produced from June 26, 2008 to December 27, 2012, a total of 38,910 vehicles;

A total of 373 imported SLS-class vehicles were produced from December 16, 2009 to September 19, 2011;

(3) Fujian Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. (a total of 37,924 vehicles):

A total of 1257 domestically produced Lingte vehicles were produced from November 24, 2010 to December 26, 2012;

Some domestic deterrent and Viano vehicles produced from April 15, 2009 to December 26, 2012, a total of 28,522 vehicles;

Partially imported Sprint vehicles produced from November 24, 2010 to December 26, 2012, totaling 4,335 vehicles;

Some imported Weiwei and Viano vehicles from May 2, 2006 to June 18, 2010, a total of 3,810 vehicles;

The recall time plan is as follows: From October 15, 2017, the recall of SLK-class vehicles with production dates of 2012 and before will be recalled, totaling 1,752 vehicles; from October 29, 2018, the production date will be recalled in 2012 and before. Import and domestic A-class, C-class, E-class, GLK, M-class, GL-class, SLS-class, R-class vehicles, a total of 311,542 vehicles; since April 30, 2018, recall production dates in 2012 and before imports And domestically produced deterrence, Viano and Sprint vehicles, a total of 37,924 vehicles.

The driver or front passenger front airbags of some vehicles within this recall range are equipped with Takata's unsalted ammonium nitrate gas generator. When the airbag is deployed, the gas generator may be abnormally damaged, causing debris to fly out and injuring the inside of the vehicle, posing a safety hazard. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd., Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. and Fujian Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will replace the new types of airbags for vehicles within the scope of the recall to eliminate safety hazards.

The recall was carried out under the circumstances of the AQSIQ initiated defect investigation. Since June 2014, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has organized a defect product management center to conduct a defect investigation on the rupture of Gaotian airbag gas generators, and issued a safety warning for Takada airbags to consumers. Since the beginning of this year, the AQSIQ has repeatedly interviewed vehicle manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd., Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. and Fujian Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. Take effective measures to protect the safety of consumers. Affected by the investigation, the above three producers decided to take recall measures to eliminate potential safety hazards.

The Mercedes-Benz Authorized Service Center and Fujian Benz Authorized Service Center will notify the relevant users of the recall by registered mail.
