Seeds are living organisms. After the seeds are still dry, their vitality is still the basic requirement for seed drying. Drying is the process of moist heat exchange between the seed and the drying medium. The seeds absorb heat from the medium environment and discharge moisture to the medium environment. The seeds heat up and the volume shrinks continuously. The denaturation of the active material inside the seed caused by the temperature rise and the damage to the seed tissue structure by the moist heat stress accelerate the deterioration of the seed and promote the death of the seed. Therefore, the seed drying process is different from the drying process of other materials. On the one hand, a high drying rate is required and high efficiency is obtained. On the other hand, the seed vigor is required to be maintained as much as possible so that the seed has a high germination rate and survival rate. The main requirements for seed dryers are as follows: (1) Ensure that the germination rate after baking is not lower than that of natural drying; (2) The seed moisture is uniform after baking, and the non-uniformity is <2.5%; (3) In terms of structure Easy to load and unload, easy to clear seeds, not mixed; (4) the temperature in the drying room is uniform, the seed heating temperature does not exceed the specified value, the drying time should not be too long. (5) The final moisture of the seed drying should generally be lower than the stored moisture of the grain, sometimes reaching 8% to 9%; (6) The seeds that can dry a variety of crops or the seeds of the same crop but different varieties should be considered in the design. Can bake a very small amount of seed; (7) Small energy consumption, low cost, high drying efficiency, and good economy.
