Sinochem New Network News On July 26th, Shanghai Secco's 900,000-ton/year ethylene project passed the review of the Sinopec project completion acceptance team to achieve completion acceptance. Since the project produced qualified products in 2005, it has been operating continuously for more than six years and has achieved good economic and social benefits.

As a national key project, the key project to revitalize the Shanghai economy, the landmark project of the Sinopec industry in the new century, the image project, the successful model of Sino-foreign joint ventures and cooperation, the Shanghai Secco 900,000 tons/year ethylene project from March 28, 2002 Since the commencement of construction, there has not been a serious personal injury or casualty accident. When the continuous safe construction reaches more than 17 million man hours, the cumulative safety construction of 48.7 million man-hours is at the leading level of world petrochemical engineering construction.

During the construction of the project, the design, construction, and production departments work closely together, and investment, progress, quality, and HSE are effectively controlled, and the design of fire protection, environmental protection, safety, and occupational disease prevention facilities and main project construction are strictly implemented. Simultaneously with construction and investment, attention is paid to the completeness and accuracy of the project archives.

After the project was operated, Shanghai Secco paid attention to safety and environmental protection while paying attention to economic benefits. For more than 6 years, there has been no serious personal injury or environmental pollution accident. Its advanced safety culture concepts and energy recycling practices have been well received by shareholders and all sectors of society.

Investment Casting

Investment casting can make use of most metals, most commonly using steel alloys, carbon steel,stainless steel, and tool steel. This process is beneficial for casting metals with high melting temperatures that can not be molded in plaster or metal. Parts that are typically made by investment casting include those with complex geometry such as turbine blades or firearm components. High temperature applications are also common, which includes parts for the automotive, aircraft, and military industries.

The process is generally used for small castings, but has produced complete aircraft door frames, steel castings of up to 3 tons and aluminium castings of up to 100 kg. It is generally more expensive per unit than Die Casting or Sand Casting but with lower equipment cost. It can produce complicated shapes that would be difficult or impossible with die casting, yet like that process, it requires little surface finishing and only minor machining.

Investment casting is used in the aerospace and power generation industries to produce turbine blades with complex shapes or cooling systems. Blades produced by investment casting can include single-crystal (SX), directionally solidified (DS), or conventional equiaxed blades. It is also widely used by firearms manufacturers to fabricate firearm receivers, triggers, hammers, and other precision parts at low cost. Other industries that use standard investment-cast parts include military, medical, commercial and automotive.

Investment casting offers high production rates, particularly for small or highly complex components, and extremely good surface finish (CT4-CT6 class accuracy and Ra1.6-6.3 surface roughness) with very little machining. The drawbacks include the specialized equipment, costly refractories and binders, many operations to make a mold, and occasional minute defects.
