IRSG forecasts that the global rubber consumption in 2012 will be 26.6 million tons, which is lower than the previous estimate of 26.8 million tons, but higher than the consumption of 25.9 million tons in 2011. IRSG expects the global natural rubber output this year to rise to 11.3 million tons, slightly higher than last year's 11 million tons. The agency expects that China's rubber demand will increase by 4.6% next year, continuing the increase this year. China is the world's largest consumer of rubber, accounting for about 30% of the world's natural and synthetic rubber output. According to the latest IRSG estimate, China will consume 8.7 million tons of rubber in 2012, slightly higher than last year's 8.3 million tons.
