Google builds a quantum computer

Google has used new processors with scientists at the University of California at Santa Barbara to build quantum computing systems. The purpose of quantum computers is to use the characteristics of subatomic particles to perform multiple calculations, although there are many obstacles to overcome.
Google’s Quantum Artificial Intelligence team will work with researchers at the University of California at Santa Barbara to establish a new quantum information processor to help make quantum computers a reality.
Today's computers use transistors to represent those and binary computing computers, but quantum computers will use qubits, or qubits, which rely on the laws of quantum mechanics to achieve various states.
Although transistors can only be in two states, on or off, qubits can accommodate multiple states at the same time, which means that they can be 1 or 0 at the same time, or both. This allows them to perform multiple calculations in parallel, greatly increasing their processing power.
Qubits are also very unstable, but they can change their state in tiny temperature changes or magnetically. Physicists at the University of California, Santa Barbara, are trying to solve the forefront of these issues, so it's easy to understand why Google wants to work with them.
The two groups will work on a superconducting electron-based processor. According to a Google blog post, resistance and magnetic fields involving the cooling of materials to near-absolute freezing are minimized.
